How Canplay Supports Responsible Play

Last updated: September 6, 2026

We built our account tools around one idea: you should always be in control of your time and your CAD balance, not the other way around.

Canplay is restricted to players who are 19 years of age or older. This is the minimum legal age for gambling in the Canadian provinces and territories we serve, and we mean it as a hard floor, not a suggestion. We verify age and identity during account setup and before withdrawals are processed. If you are under 19, you may not register an account, deposit funds or play any game on the site, full stop.

No Single Regulator, but Real Tools Anyway

If you are playing with us from outside Ontario, there is no single national gambling regulator that licenses or oversees online casino play for your province. That gap does not mean there is no oversight of your play experience. It means the responsibility for setting limits sits with the platform and with you, so we have put practical account controls in place and we point every player toward independent, no-cost support services regardless of where in Canada they are logging in from.

Deposit Limits You Set Yourself

From your account dashboard you can set a daily, weekly or monthly deposit cap in CAD. Once that cap is reached, the cashier will not accept further deposits until the period resets, no exceptions and no support override on request. This applies across all supported payment methods, including Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, crypto deposits such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, iDebit and MuchBetter.

  • Lowering a limit takes effect immediately.
  • Raising a limit takes effect only after a cooling-off period, typically 24 to 48 hours, so a bad night at the tables can't undo a limit you set with a clear head.
  • You can view your deposit history and current limit status at any time from account settings.
  • Limits are separate from bonus wagering requirements; see the Bonus page for how those work.

Time-Outs and Self-Exclusion

Sometimes a short break is all that's needed. Our account tools let you set a temporary time-out of 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, during which you cannot log in or place a bet. If you need longer, self-exclusion options extend to 6 months, 12 months or longer, and reinstating access after a self-exclusion period involves a manual review, not an automatic re-open. This is intentional. It builds in a pause before you can play again.

To activate any time-out or self-exclusion, go to Account Settings > Responsible Gaming, or contact our 24/7 English-language support team directly and they will apply it for you the same day.

Free, Independent Help: ConnexOntario

If gambling is affecting your finances, your relationships or your mood, ConnexOntario offers free, confidential support 24 hours a day, every day of the year. You do not need to be an Ontario resident to call; their line and web chat serve people across Canada looking for problem gambling help and referrals.

ConnexOntario can also connect you with local counselling and treatment services in your own province, so it's worth calling even if you're not sure yet whether you have a problem or just want to talk it through.

Warning Signs Worth Taking Seriously

  • Chasing losses by depositing more than you planned to.
  • Borrowing money, or using bill money, to fund play.
  • Hiding deposit amounts or session length from people close to you.
  • Feeling irritable, anxious or low when you're not able to play.
  • Losing track of time consistently once you start a session.

If any of that sounds familiar, setting a deposit limit or a time-out today, and calling ConnexOntario this week, are two concrete steps you can take right now. Neither one requires you to close your account permanently unless that's what you decide you want.

Keeping Play in Its Place

Treat your Canplay balance as entertainment spending, the same as a night out, not as income or a way to cover a shortfall. Bonus funds and free spins, detailed on the Bonus page, come with wagering requirements and T&Cs apply; they are not a way to guarantee a return, and no game outcome on the site is ever guaranteed. Check your play history regularly under account settings, and revisit your deposit limit whenever your budget changes, not just when things go wrong.

How Canplay Supports Responsible Play

What is the minimum age to play at Canplay?

19+. We verify age during registration and again before any withdrawal is released, and accounts that fail verification are closed.

Which regulator licenses Canplay for players outside Ontario?

No single national regulator oversees online casino play for Canadians outside Ontario. Because of that gap, we provide our own deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools, and we point every player toward ConnexOntario for free, independent support.

How do I set a deposit limit on my account?

Go to Account Settings > Responsible Gaming and choose a daily, weekly or monthly cap in CAD. Lowering the limit is instant; raising it takes 24 to 48 hours to take effect.

Can I self-exclude for longer than 12 months?

Yes. Contact 24/7 support and ask for an extended self-exclusion. Reinstating the account afterward involves a manual review rather than an automatic reopen.

Who can I call if gambling is becoming a problem?

ConnexOntario, at 1-866-531-2600 or https://www.connexontario.ca/, offers free, confidential support around the clock to callers anywhere in Canada, not only Ontario residents.
